Margie Omero is President of Momentum Analysis, LLC, a Democratic public opinion research firm based in Washington, DC. Momentum Analysis provides quantitative and qualitative research for Democratic campaigns and progressive causes. Her clients have included the DNC, the DCCC, EMILY’s List, non-profits and labor unions, and races around the country from City Council to U.S. Senate. In 2006, Omero was proud to work for Congressman Chris Carney (PA-10), who defeated former Representative Don Sherwood in one of the most closely-watched Congressional races in the country.
Omero frequently speaks on message development, survey research, and political trends to associations, community organizers, foreign dignitaries, and students. Every major cable news network, PBS and newspapers around the country also regularly turn to Omero for comment. She is the 2006 recipient of Women’s Information Network’s “Young Woman Of Achievement” award. In 2003, after only her first cycle running Momentum Analysis, the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) named Omero “Rookie of the Year,” an award meant to cut across party lines and consulting disciplines. Campaigns and Elections magazine recognized Omero as a “rising star” during the 2000 election cycle, and she led focus groups aired on an ABC-News special on global warming in 2000. She has been published in Campaigns and Elections, has a chapter in a pending book about the gender gap, and is the co-author of an upcoming book on encouraging young women to pursue careers in politics.
Prior to launching Momentum Analysis, Omero was a Vice President at The Mellman Group, a research firm also in Washington, DC. While there, Omero handled the firm’s research for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and for numerous other Democratic candidates, such as Senator Maria Cantwell (WA), Senator Tim Johnson (SD), former Senator Tom Daschle (SD), former Congressman Dick Gephardt (MO-3), and Congresswoman Shelley Berkley (NV-1). Omero worked on the firm’s research for non-profits such as World Wildlife Fund, Trust For Public Lands, the Pew Charitable Trusts, and the League of Women Voters. Omero also coordinated the firm’s work on Fortune Magazine’s Power 25, which was an annual list of the most powerful organizations in Washington, DC.
Omero is a professionally trained focus group moderator, and is professionally and academically trained in statistical sampling and survey methodology. She is also a member of the American Association of Political Consultants, where she has been a judge for the group’s annual awards for campaign advertising. She has a bachelor’s degree and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in the University’s prestigious honors program, studied psychology and research methodology, and wrote her honors thesis using longitudinal survey data. She lives in Washington, DC.
